OMG It's the dreaded L word

Still looked the same this morning but when I got there at tea time is was apparent he definitely has laminitis and there is no chance of mis diagnosing it now. Very stilted. I'm very sad.
Brought him in to Harrys box. Sarah had to help me. It took ages, poor boy. I did think about getting the trailer but George only needs a small excuse not to go in and this is a massive one.

How I am going to box rest this horse I dont know. Within 10 mins of being in he'd got his teeth stuck in his haynet, so I put the hay on the floor and confiscated it. Then left him for a few mins to get some brushes and came back and he'd smacked his head on the wall and given himself a nosebleed. Nightmare.

Got some ACP from Sarah so he's had 4 of those and another bute. Will call vet in the morning.

Not going to sleep well tonight as he was pretty wired when I left him, not used to being in!

Poison foot?

OK, so today he looks lame. Not footy, or stilted, just lame on the left fore. Maybe its poison foot? He is really favouring it. More bute, still in small paddock.

Day 2

So, today he looks ok. Yesterday as soon as I realised I put him in a tiny paddock with a bit of hay and a sachet of bute. Seems I got it right as he is looking alright now. All being well I've nipped it in the bud. Got everything crossed. Had a good time at the wedding though I cried more than normal! Did mangage to have fun and have a good dance!

I am keeping G on his rations, in his little paddock with another packet of bute until I can speak to the vet.

The day of realisation

Sat 16th April.
I've just got back from 3 days in Cornwall to find George looking 'pottery'. There is no doubt in my mind he has laminitis and I am kicking myself.
I have been SO careful yet he's STILL got this dreaded illness.
I need to get my act together as I'm going to a wedding this afternoon I know I will be thinking about nothing else other than George though! Pass me the wine!
